Very interesting. When compared to IDweek 2022, there is a difference in post peaks. This year it appears more bimodal (Thursday and Saturday) whereas last year it peaked on Friday. This year it also appeared that posts were more than last year, which is great! We had a total of 2627 posts this year, and last year was ~2188.

Interesting to see that outpatient paxlovid didn’t ⬇️ Covid-related hospitalization, death in unvacc’d patients with standard risk or vaccinated high-risk patient, but when looked at mITT for both seronegative (NNT=10) and positive patients (NNT=67), it did.
Also interesting to see that, in nursing homes, universal decolonization with chlorhexidine and nasal iodophor led to a significantly lower risk of transfer to a hospital due to infection than routine care.

This day is all about the ACORN! Among hospitalized adults in this randomized clinical trial, treatment with piperacillin-tazobactam did not increase the incidence of acute kidney injury or death. Treatment with cefepime resulted in more neurological dysfunction.
Also, nice to know that IDSA has new cUTI guideline! Thanks LordAlirezaF!
Good to know the new definition of uncomplicated UTI (everything else both in men and women if does not have pyelo, CAUTI or febrile/bacteremic). Wait, CAUTI is complicated?

Top 20 bookmarked posts were quite consistent with like counts. I won’t repeat the findings here but highlight the ones not mentioned.
- Institutes with EPIC SlicerDicer may play a role in antibiotic prescription surveillance and more.
- Treating ASB in kidney translant apparently does not decrease pyelo in the first 2 months.
- More oral antibiotic talks, now this one is on staph aureus bacteremia
- Top papers in mycology.
- PCT-guided antibiotics therapy may be associated with reduce AB use
- Linezolid/Rifampin interaction is substantial

Wow, looks like ABsteward is taking the lead on the most bookmarked posts, followered by JAMA_current, GermHunterMD, LordAlirezaF and more. Thank you all for keeping all of us informed! I definitely feel like I was there with all these great posts!
IDtwitter vs IDxPost ?
It looks like most people are still using #IDtwitter on X! At least for those tagged with #idweek2023. It’s a good representation of ID audience on X.
Limitations
- Data only queried with (#Idweek2023 AND idweek)
- Data on 10/11 may not be as accurate re: like counts etc due to delayed extraction,
- All data extracted on 10/18 8a hence all counts are uptodate until then
- Some 10/11 author_id we were unable to find username
- Not all top likes / bookmark counts mean posts are helpful, same for the converse
- Helpful posts may not have #idweek2023 and not be extracted (e.g. @dralicehan’s posts)
- Posts do not mean information accurate but definitely help in stimulating reading the source
- Lots of interesting talks in ID week that may not have been shared in X
- I found wordcloud not too helpful this year, hence I used likes and bookmark to further guide posts that were favored by X crowds.
